Assistance Rendered – A man who had been cuckolded said his wife’s former paramour had threatened him and his son; the paramour in turn said it was the husband who had threatened him and made it quite clear to officers that he would defend himself if the husband made good on his threats. Officers advised both men to avoid contact with one another.

Criminal Mischief – A young boy phoned police at his mother’s behest, after the mother’s boyfriend began yelling and destroying about $800 worth of electronic equipment in their living room. Officers found the man yelling at and flailing his arms in the face of the boy’s mother. James R. Brooks Jr., 39 yoa, was arrested on one count Criminal Mischief IV – DV.

Assault – A woman, upset because a coworker with whom she claimed to have had a year-long relationship was no longer speaking to her, followed the man into his bathroom and refused to let him leave without talking to her. The coworker, who told police the two of them had sex but otherwise had no relationship, shoved her into a towel rack in order to get away and told her to take her clothes with her. Neither party had injuries nor were charges filed.

Welfare Check – Man in California asked police to check on his brother, from whom he had not heard for over two weeks. The out-of-state caller knew the name of the company for which his brother worked. UDPS staff phoned the employer, learned that the brother was still employed there, and phoned the caller with this information.

Welfare Check – Caller reported hearing yelling and screaming from a nearby apartment. Officers responded and found a couple had been arguing about taking out the trash, after which one of them slammed a few doors and left the apartment.

An officer advised the passenger to pay the fare, and suggested to the driver that perhaps she should ensure her passengers have funds with which to pay before transporting them.

Traffic Crime – Fire and EMS volunteers on a training run reported a driver had swerved off the road several times before turning in at a grocery store. An officer contacted the suspect driver, who said he had been pulling off the road for all the ambulance and fire trucks, even though they were not using lights and sirens. The officer advised the driver that he is required to pull over and stop when the emergency vehicles are using lights and sirens, but not otherwise.
