Felony assault on board F/V Aleutian Sable; 18 March 2018
Unalaska, AK –Unalaska Department of Public Safety (UDPS) police and EMS units responded to the F/V Aleutian Sable in the wee hours of March 16th after receiving a report that a member of the crew had been badly injured as a result of an assault with a knife. EMS transported the victim, who had a deep laceration to his upper abdomen, to the IFHS clinic. He was subsequently medevacked to Anchorage for surgery and is reported to be in stable condition. A second victim received a minor injury when he attempted to stop the assailant after the initial assault. Members of the crew identified the assailant as Anthony M. Cervantes, DOB 11/12/1990, and reported that he had fled the vessel. Officers located Cervantes about a ¼ mile from the vessel and took him into custody. Cervantes has been charged with Assault I, Assault II and Assault III. The incident is still under investigation.
