Absentee Voting
Absentee Voting
Qualified voters who expect to be absent from the election precinct or who will be unable to vote in such precinct by reason of physical disability on the day of any election, may cast an absentee ballot. Unalaska code provides for the following ways to vote absentee. Advance application required (except for absentee in person voting):

In Person (available 20 days before an election)

By Mail (deadline for applying is 5 days before an election)

By Electronic Transmission - fax or email (deadline for applying is noon on the day before the election)

Absentee In-Person Voting
You may vote absentee in person 20 days before an election. Stop by the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (907) 581-1251 or e-mail us.
Absentee Voting by Mail
If you would like to vote by mail, contact the City Clerk’s Office at (907) 581-1251 or email us and ask for an application to vote by mail (also attached below). Completed applications must be received not more than 35 days nor less than 5 days prior to the election.
Your voted ballot and completed paperwork must be witnessed/notarized and postmarked by the day of the election and received by the City Clerk’s office prior to the meeting of the canvass committee.
Absentee Voting by Electronic Transmission
Voting by electronic transmission is also available to those who will be out of town on Election Day. Please be aware that by using this method to return a voted ballot, you are voluntarily waiving your right to a secret ballot.
If you would like to vote by electronic transmission, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 907-581-1251 or email us and ask for an application to vote by electronic transmission (also attached below). Completed applications must be received by noon the day before Election Day.
You must complete paperwork, vote your ballot, have your signature witnessed/notarized, and return the paperwork and voted ballot by electronic transmission.
The voted ballot must be received by the City Clerk no later than 8:00 p.m. Alaska time on Election Day.
