Burn Permits

Burning trash, rubbish, scrap wood, cardboard, flammable or combustible liquids, or any other material is prohibited unless a valid burning permit has been issued and the requirements of the permit are adhered to.

A burn permit is not necessary for a burn barrel (55 gallon drum or smaller), if the fire is a small bon, picnic, or camp fire or a barbecue, and the fire can be readily distinguished from a structure fire.  As a general rule these types of fires should be no larger than a stack of 3 standard size wooden pallets.

Permits may be obtained from the Department of Public Safety in the Public Safety Building located at 29 Safety Way on Agnes Beach Hill, in Unalaska.

Burning without a valid permit and/or failure to comply with any provision of the permit is a violation and, upon conviction, is punishable under the law.
