Body of Adult Male Recovered at CEM Dock; 19 January 2018
Unalaska, AK – At approximately 1830 hrs. on January 18, 2018, a team of first responders including Police, Fire, Ports and NMFS officers recovered the body of an adult male from the water beneath the CEM C-float. The victim, identified as 30-year old Alexander Johannesen, had not been seen since the previous evening. It is the practice of the Unalaska Department of Public Safety (UDPS) to treat all unattended deaths as suspicious and Mr. Johannesen’s remains will be sent to the Medical Examiner for autopsy. Tragedies such as this are unfortunately not uncommon and are all too often unwitnessed. UDPS is asking those with information pertaining to this case, particularly those who may have been in the area of the CEM Dock late on January 17th or early January 18th, to contact Sergeant Kevin Wood at 907-581-1233.
