Officers were notified that an individual had passed away during a boating accident. Officers responded to the area and assisted EMS with the transport of the deceased to the local morgue. This incident is still under investigation.

Officer investigated a report that an unknown individual was inside a local business when it was closed.  The complainant was the cleaning lady and she felt unsafe.  It was found that the locking mechanism on the main entrance to the building was not working properly, allowing the unauthorized person to access the building.  Officer patrolled the area but was unable to locate any suspicious people.

Officers contacted a drunk female sitting on the sidewalk near the roadway.  Officers provided a courtesy transport for the female to ensure that she got to her vessel safely.

Walk-in delivered a baggie containing a crystalline substance, which he found in the parking lot of his workplace. The baggie and its contents will be destroyed.

Officers responded to the Airport to contact three intoxicated men who were creating a disturbance at the ticket counter.  Airport advised the individuals that they could not board the plane due to their level of intoxication.

Officers arrested Ruben Rosas, 48 yoa, after responding to a report that he was non-compliant at a local liquor store. Upon arrival, officers recognized Rosas from an earlier contact, in which they had advised him not to enter any liquor establishments for the remainder of the night due to his already high level of intoxication. Officers arrested Rosas.

Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual sleeping outside a local apartment complex on the property of a local cannery. Security met officers and advised officers the individual had been trespassed earlier in the night. Officers recognized the individual and observed the individual was more intoxicated now than during their prior contact. Officers, concerned for the individual’s health due to their high level of intoxication, requested EMS respond.

Officers were advised of a vehicle that had been abandoned at a local business. Officers added the vehicle to their list of vehicles-to-be-impounded.

Release Conditions

Officers were notified that an individual that was on Conditions of Release not to leave Unalaska had been contacted by another law enforcement agency in Sitka. Officers confirmed this with the law enforcement agency, and applied to search the records of a local airline to confirm the individual had left. A return of these records found that the individual had not only left Unalaska, but had left Alaska completely. Officers charged the individual and issued an arrest warrant.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving with bright green headlights. Officers spoke with the driver, who stated her husband had just changed the lights. The driver was advised the current color of the lights was a violation of local ordinances. The driver stated she would notify her husband of this and have the lights changed.

Officers observed a dog on the loose and notified the Animal Control Officer. The ACO was unable to locate the dog.

The Animal Control Officer responded to a report of a loose dog. The ACO responded to find the owner in the process of corralling the dog. Once the owner was back in possession of the dog, the ACO issued them a verbal warning about the Dog at Large ordinance.

Officers responded to a report of a foreclosed house that appeared to have been broken into. Officers arrived at the residence and observed no one inside, and no signs of forced entry. Officers found that the door remained locked, but the condition of the door frame was quite poor, and was not able to keep the door closed and latched. Officers notified the company responsible for the residence.

Officers were told individuals inside had heard strange voices outside and were concerned that the voices may belong to some disgruntled employees that had been terminated earlier in the day. Officers saw nothing of concern.

Officers responded to a report of a dog running loose at a local school while children were out at recess. Officers responded and retrieved the dog. The dog was transported to the kennel, and the rightful owner came later in the day to retrieve his dog.

Officers responded to a report of a possible trespass violation at a local bunkhouse. Upon arrival officers spoke with the individual who had filed the report and learned that the individual accused of violating the trespass had been entering the bunkhouse at night and stealing food from the shared refrigerator. The caller for the incident requested officers trespass the alleged trespasser. Officers were unable to contact management for the bunkhouse at the time of the report.

Criminal Mischief

Officers responded to a report of an individual punching and kicking vehicles in the parking lot of a local liquor establishment. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the owner of the vehicles, who stated she did not want to press charges against the suspect due to the fact no damage was done to the vehicles. Officers then spoke with the suspect, who apologized for his actions, and stated he had been acting out of anger. The suspect reported he had just been punched. Officers observed swelling to the suspect’s eye. The suspect wished to press charges against his assailant. Officers then responded to the area the assault had taken place.

Officers responded to a report of an assault that had taken place earlier in the day. Officers had contacted the victim of the assault at a local liquor establishment during a response for another call, and had learned of the assailant’s location during the response. After speaking with the assailant, officers learned the assailant had punched the victim after the victim had attempted to punch him first. Officers were unable to find enough evidence to charge either the assailant or victim.

Officers responded to a local residence after an individual called to report they had fallen, and did not have enough strength to return to their feet. Officers successfully assisted the individual in returning to their feet, and escorted the individual to their bed to rest after they refused medical attention.

Officers responded to a report of ammunition, live and spent, near a local business. The manager of the business was concerned that someone had been firing into their property, possibly doing damage. Officers investigated the area and did not locate any damage.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a local apartment complex. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the husband, who informed officers his wife had struck him in the chest during an argument about infidelity. He stated his wife then threatened to leave the residence with their children, which prompted his reporting the situation. The wife admitted to striking her husband on the chest. Neither feared the other. The District Attorney did not believe an arrest was necessary, but suggested separating the couple would be a reasonable solution. The couple was then separated.

Out past curfew, a large group of minors were reported at the park causing a noise disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke to the young adults who understood the problem and decided to cooperate and head home.
