Boating Fatality, 26 August 2018
Unalaska, AK – UDPS is saddened to report that a boating accident has resulted in the death of an Unalaska resident, David Long, an employee of Unisea Inc. Personnel from UDPS, Ports, US Coast Guard and the Department of Public Works responded to the Morris Cove area after a boating accident was reported by an off-duty Alaska State Trooper. Long and his companion had been fishing for salmon when they encountered problems with both their net and boat; the boat capsized after taking on water. Long’s companion was able to make shore and walk for help, and suffered no serious injuries. UDPS appreciates the help of all those involved in the response, and offers condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Long.
