05/24/15 Sun 0255 DUI – Officers stopped a driver who had been seen striking a curb and drifting into the opposing lane of traffic. Driver Bernard Bernard was subsequently arrested for Driving under the Influence.
05/24/15 Sun 1732 Assault – Three adults engaged in a swearing and shoving match after one man, who had put $30 in the jukebox, got mad at another man for increasing the volume of a televised NASCAR event.
05/24/15 Sun 1903 Criminal Mischief – A tenant, angry about having just overheard the landlord tell a neighbor that the tenant was being evicted, dented the landlord’s garage door with a single vicious kick. The tenant’s employer agreed to pay for the damages, and the tenant was advised not to return to the premises.
05/24/15 Sun 2050 Assistance Rendered – Caller reported a suspicious-looking garbage bag and black tote at road’s end on Little South America. An officer responded and found clothing, tools and a lot of chewing tobacco in the containers. No identification was located.
05/24/15 Sun 2238 Noise Disturbance – Downstairs apartment tenant complained about loud music from his upstairs neighbor. An officer walked upstairs and advised the tenant there of the complaint. The tenant was quite cooperative.
05/24/15 Sun 2331 Noise Disturbance - Downstairs bunkhouse tenant complained about loud music from a group of upstairs neighbors. He had already attempted to address the matter himself, but had a door slammed in his face for his trouble. An officer walked upstairs and advised the occupants there of the complaint.
05/25/15 Mon 0925 Ambulance Request – EMS personnel provided care and transport for a man who had fallen from the roof a church.
05/25/15 Mon 0929 Assistance Rendered – Officer assisted EMS personnel with a patient.
05/25/15 Mon 1029 Ambulance Request – EMS personnel provided care and transport for a man suffering a seizure.
05/25/15 Mon 1034 Assistance Rendered – Officers assisted EMS personnel with a patient.
05/25/15 Mon 1352 Traffic Crime – Officer stopped a speeding driver and learned the driver did not have mandatory liability insurance. The driver obtained said insurance the following day.

05/25/15 Mon 1822 Death Investigation – Landlord who had not seen or heard from a tenant for several went to his apartment and discovered while looking through a window that the tenant had died. No foul play is suspected. The decedent’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
05/25/15 Mon 1827 Ambulance Request – EMS personnel were dispatched to a death scene, but were stood down en route.

05/25/15 Mon 2010 Traffic Crime – Alaska State Trooper called police to report a speeding driver. Officers responded but did not locate the suspect driver.
05/25/15 Mon 2058 EMS Other Services – EMS personnel assisted with transport of a body from an apartment to the morgue.
05/25/15 Mon 2101 Welfare Check – Caller reported a quite inebriated man who had been staggering along the roadway had just fallen into a ditch. An officer responded to the area but determined that the red-sweatered inebriate had apparently already crawled out of the ditch to safety.
05/26/15 Tue 1100 Ambulance Request – EMS personnel provided care and transport for an unconscious drunk.
05/26/15 Tue 1120 Assistance Rendered – Officer assisted EMS personnel with a patient.
05/26/15 Tue 1152 Assistance Rendered – Officers watched a Fire Captain dispose of containers of beer, vodka and soda.
05/26/15 Tue 1154 Criminal Mischief – Apartment-dweller discovered that someone had super-glued the valve caps on his vehicle tires, so that any attempt to remove the cap ripped the stem from the valve and caused the tire to deflate. One possible suspect was identified.
05/26/15 Tue 1307 Civil Paper Service – Paper service, criminal.
05/26/15 Tue 1552 Impound – Local resident turned over title of a decrepit vehicle to the City of Unalaska, in order that it might be destroyed.
05/26/15 Tue 1759 Traffic Crime – Officer spoke with drivers and company representatives regarding oversize/overweight move requirements.
05/26/15 Tue 1805 Animal – Injured eagle. AST was advised.
05/26/15 Tue 2143 Traffic Crime – Complaint about a speeding three-wheeler with a helmet-less driver. The driver was tentatively identified but could not be located at his last known residence.
05/26/15 Tue 2303 Assist Other Agency – Officer put an Akutan caller and AST in contact with one another regarding a missing person/search-and-rescue incident in Akutan.
05/27/15 Wed 1041 Assist Other Agency – Officer confirmed warrant information on a previous Unalaska resident for a US Social Security officer.

05/27/15 Wed 1230 Civil Paper Service – Paper service, probation revocation.
05/27/15 Wed 1241 Civil Paper Service – Paper service, criminal case.
05/27/15 Wed 1525 Theft – A man who had defecated in his pants helped himself to a new wardrobe, leaving his soiled clothing and cell phone in a dressing room. Steven A. Koechel, 35 yoa, was recognized by store personnel from a previous shoplifting incident and was captured on security cameras as he entered the store wearing one outfit and left wearing another. Koechel was arrested on one count of Theft IV and three counts of Violating Conditions of Release.
05/27/15 Wed 1705 Animal – UDPS assisted with the reunification of a cat and her person.
05/28/15 Thu 0102 Traffic Crime – Officer issued a correctable citation to a driver with faulty headlights. The driver repaired the headlights a short time later.

05/28/15 Thu 1406 Assistance Rendered – Out-of-town apartment dweller let UDPS know that should there be a report of someone breaking into her home, it was because she had made arrangements for a friend to retrieve house keys which had been locked inside the apartment.
05/28/15 Thu 1446 Trespass – Officer issued a trespass advisement, to a drunken man found passed out in a common area.
05/28/15 Thu 1457 Liquor Law Violation – Officer advised a drunken man that he was not allowed to enter or remain on any licensed premise due to his state of intoxication.
05/28/15 Thu 1509 Animal – Three kittens turned in to UDPS for adoption.
05/28/15 Thu 1511 Civil – Bail forfeiture paper service, criminal case.
05/28/15 Thu 1550 Missing Person – PCR staff reported a 7-year old child had fled from the facility after she tired of waiting for her mother, and had subsequently disappeared somewhere in the area of her own home. The girl was eventually located in a neighbor’s house. The child’s mother was advised.
05/28/15 Thu 1623 Assistance Rendered – Officer spoke with OC Security regarding a number of syringes that had been found between Summer Bay and Humpy Cove.
05/28/15 Thu 1649 Environmental – Caller reported strong winds had left a barrel rolling, rolling, rolling, on East Broadway. An officer secured it off the roadway.
05/28/15 Thu 1723 Environmental – Strong winds blew another barrel and some buoys onto the roadway in the Standard Oil and Strawberry Hill areas. An officer secured this debris as well.
05/28/15 Thu 1804 Welfare Check – UDPS received a 911 hang-up call from a cell phone registered to a local resident. The resident had moved from his last known residence and could not be found.
05/28/15 Thu 1822 Traffic Roads – Complaint about the placement of large boulders on the verge at the end of the runway. Officers learned that DOT had placed the boulders to prevent vehicles from driving off the pavement and onto the soft shoulder.

05/29/15 Fri 2134 Liquor Law Violation – Caller reported a number of teens appeared to be drinking alcohol at a bonfire. Officers contacted four youths and found that none of them displayed signs of alcohol consumption.
05/30/15 Sat 0836 Lost Property – A purse, believed lost and then found.
05/30/15 Sat 1131 Public Safety – Herman Garay updated his sex offender registration as required by law.
05/30/15 Sat 1313 Theft – A small outboard motor, worth about $1500, was stolen from a warehouse sometime Thursday night. The victim was able to provide specific details about the stolen item, its location and time frame in which it was stolen. Under investigation.
05/30/15 Sat 1323 Assistance Rendered – Officers assisted with traffic control during a funeral procession.
05/30/15 Sat 1540 Animal – Loose dogs.
05/30/15 Sat 1610 Suspicious Person/Activity – Caller reported that the driver of a black pickup, parked near the South Channel Bridge, was attempting to push a female passenger out of the vehicle. An officer located a vehicle similar to that described, but found only a driver and no passenger. The driver denied that there had been anyone else in the vehicle.
