Captain Nathan Palmer

Senior Captain Nathan Palmer was hired by the Unalaska Department of Public Safety as a volunteer Firefighter in 2005. Within a few years of beginning his firefighting career, he began attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) and continued working toward his Fire Science degree.  While attending school at UAF he also worked with the University Fire Department as a firefighter and student.  In 2011 he returned to Unalaska and was hired as a Captain with Unalaska Fire & EMS, assigned to Battalion A, and with the exception of a brief absence in 2013 has been with UFEMS ever since.

Captain Palmer is certified by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress as a Firefighter II, and certified by the State of Alaska as an EMT II.  Captain Palmer is also an American Heart Association, Basic Life Support Instructor.
