Ben Knowles - Fire Chief/Director of Fire and Emergency Medical Services - Fire 01
Chief Knowles is a Minnesota native, where he served as a Firefighter/EMT for 6 years before coming to Unalaska. Chief Knowles holds multiple certifications in a wide variety of disciplines. Chief Knowles is also the local Fire Marshal. He is a limited commissioned Peace Officer by the State of Alaska Department of Public Safety and a Certified Fire Investigator.
David Gibson - Captain - A-Shift - Fire 02
Captain Gibson has been with UFD since 2017 starting as a volunteer until accepting a full time position in 2019. Captain Gibson is an Alaska Certified Firefighter I, EMT III, and Fire and EMS Instructor. Captain Gibson is the A-Shift, shift commander.
Arianna Morales - Captain - B-Shift - Fire 03
Captain Morales comes from the Unalaska Department of Public Safety where she served as a Communications Officer for 2 years until accepting a full-time position with UFD in 2020. Captain Morales is an Alaska Certified Firefighter I, EMT II and EMS Instructor. Captain Morales is the B-Shift, shift commander.
Karen Macke - Firefighter - A-Shift - Fire 04
Firefighter Macke was most recently the collections manager at the Museum of the Aleutians located in Unalaska, Alaska. Firefighter Macke was previously a volunteer and accepted a full-time position in 2023. Firefighter Macke is an Alaska Certified Firefighter I, II, and EMT-1.
Lizzie Tran - Firefighter - B-Shift - Fire 05
Firefighter Tran was born and raised in Unalaska. A recent graduate from the Unalaska City School District, she recently returned to the island and accepted a full-time position in 2023. Firefighter Tran is an Alaska Certified Firefighter I, II, and EMT-1.
