Committees, Boards, and Commissions

Committees, Boards, and Commissions

The City of Unalaska has various boards, commissions, and committees comprised of volunteer citizens who are interested in helping to shape the future of Unalaska.  By participating as a member of one of these advisory bodies, volunteers make an important contribution to the community.  Their input and recommendations to the Council on programs and issues ensure a strong public voice.  Volunteers are one of Unalaska’s most valuable assets.

In order to be considered for a board, committee, or commission appointment, an application must be completed and submitted to the City Clerk’s Office.  Completed applications are submitted to the Mayor for consideration.  If more than one application is submitted for the same open seat, the Mayor will consider the qualifications of the applicants and recommend a candidate to the Council.  The City Council will pass a resolution expressing their approval of the Mayor’s recommendation.  New appointees will be notified of their selection through the City Clerk’s office.
