Fraudulent Financial Request
Unalaska, Alaska, July 12, 2019 – On July 10, 2019, the Finance Department identified a fraudulent financial request. A quick response minimized the potential loss to the City of Unalaska.
The City of Unalaska is evaluating internal controls and processes to identify and close gaps in order to reduce future risks.
The FBI is currently investigating the incident. In efforts to maintain the integrity of this ongoing investigation, additional information may be available after the investigation is completed.
