POSITION: STOREKEEPER I
HIRING WAGE: $33.85 - $35.91/hr
The City of Unalaska is accepting applications for the position of Storekeeper I in the Department of Public Works. Located in the central Aleutian Islands, Unalaska, Alaska, is a multicultural coastal community with approximately 4,250 full-time residents. It is home to the number one commercial fishing port in the United States, the International Port of Dutch Harbor.
The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by employees in this classification. The duties shown are designed to provide a representative summary.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This is an entry-level position that, under the direct supervision of the Supply Division Supervisor, receives, stocks, organizes, and issues various materials. The work involves several sequential steps in the receiving, stocking, and recording of inventory.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Must have knowledge of filling out work orders, dispensing items, and preparing boxes for new stock items. Must be capable of reorganizing for better accessibility and have strong multitasking skills. Must have knowledge of how to safely operate a motor vehicle and a forklift to facilitate the movement of materials on a limited basis. Must be capable of performing data entry of orders using inventory software, logging fuel entries, and assembling bill-out work order information using Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College or technical training with an emphasis on inventory control, business, and/or computers preferred.
• Experience operating a forklift and handling/transporting freight preferred.
• Other combinations of experience that are relevant to perform the essential functions of the position will be evaluated on an individual basis.
LICENSES & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Required to have, or be able to obtain, an Alaska Driver’s License within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to pass all required pre-employment testing, i.e., criminal background, work history, and random drug testing.
• Must be eligible to work in the US; meet employment requirements by Federal Law; if hired, must complete employment eligibility verification form (I-9).
