Unalaska Police Blotter 12/25 - 12/31/2016

12/25/16              Sun        0044       Domestic Disturbance – 911 call received in which the caller did not respond but arguing could be heard in the background. A trace of the call was initiated and officers responded to the residence. Officers discovered that a couple had been involved in a tense argument, but no threats of violence or actual violence had occurred.

12/25/16              Sun        0314       Drunk disturbance – Officers were flagged down by a taxi driver who was having a dispute with a fare. The fare was upset because he believed the driver was insulting him. The driver just wanted the drunken customer out of her taxi. Both parties went their separate ways.

12/25/16              Sun        1007       Civil – Officers assisted with a civil standby.

12/25/16              Sun        1719       Suspicious Person/Activity – Officers initiated a cell search after contraband was discovered.

12/26/16              Mon      0035       Traffic Roads – Caller reported that the tracks in the snow indicated an erratic driver. Officers were unable to follow the snow tracks to a suspect vehicle due to the plethora of other snow tracks intermingled throughout the roadway.

12/26/16              Mon      0517       Traffic Roads – Road’s Chief advised of icy road conditions.

12/26/16              Mon      1019       Animal – Feral cats turned over to Public Safety.

12/26/16              Mon      2238       Environmental – Caller reported construction material blowing loose and creating a hazard. The responsible party for the construction site was advised.

2/27/16                Tue        1107       Burn Permit -

12/27/16              Tue        1142       Lost Property – Individual requested to document that she had dropped her wallet into the water.

12/27/16              Tue        1258       Fraud – Caller reported that her estranged husband had siphoned off over $3000.00 from her account. Investigation continues.

12/27/16              Tue        1356       Welfare Check – Officers conducted a welfare check on an individual who may have expressed intent to harm himself.

12/27/16              Tue        2317       Assistance Rendered – Caller reported that one of “Unalaska’s Most Wanted” was currently at his place of employment. The “Most Wanted” individual had already been arrested on his warrant and was no longer “Most Wanted.”

12/27/16              Tue        2317       Traffic Crime – Caller reported nearly being struck by a vehicle that was being driven erratically. Officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

12/28/16              Wed      0515       Traffic Roads – Road’s Chief advised of icy road conditions.

12/28/16              Wed      1059       Burn Permit -

12/28/16              Wed      1554       Environmental – Caller reported that eagles were making a mess of some trash that had been left in the back of a pickup truck. The owner of the truck was advised.

12/28/16              Wed      1705       MVA-Damage – Caller reported a possible attempted vehicle theft. A vehicle had inexplicably moved from its parking spot the building where it caused damage to the building. It was determined that the vehicle had issues with its transmission and had rolled into the building.

12/28/16              Wed      2106       Abandoned Vehicle – Caller reported an abandoned vehicle on private property. After numerous phone calls between the property owner and the vehicle owner, the vehicle was towed from the property.

12/28/16              Wed      2108       Abandoned Vehicle – Officer issued a citation for an abandoned vehicle.

12/28/16              Wed      2243       Traffic Crime - Rafael Rodriguez, 38 yoa, issued a citation for Driving With a Suspended License.

12/29/16              Thu        1714       Medevac -

12/29/16              Thu        1807       Traffic Crime – Officer contacted the driver of a vehicle after the vehicle’s hood flew up. Fafagu Aasa, 23 yoa, issued two citations, DWLS and No Vehicle Insurance.

12/30/16              Fri           0815       Suspicious Person/Activity – Officer initiated an investigation into a missing firearm. The firearm was found in a location different from where it was supposed to have been located.

12/30/16              Fri           0938       Fire Safety – Fire Officers initiated a Fire Inspection of a local business.

12/30/16              Fri           0953       Fire Safety – Fire Officers initiated a Fire Inspection of a local business.

12/30/16              Fri           1032       Found Property – Caller reported a found wallet. Dispatch contacted the wallets owner and arranged a meeting between the two parties so that the wallet could be returned.

12/30/16              Fri           1049       Traffic Crime – Caller reported a vehicle parked in a handicap space. The vehicle owner was contacted. The vehicle was parked in the space adjacent to the marked handicap space which caused the handicap van to not be able to fit into the spot. The vehicle was moved and the signage was adjusted to assure the adequate space was available to any handicap vehicles.

12/30/16              Fri           1158       Welfare Check – Caller requested a check on an individual who was arguing with her son. Officers determined that no crimes had been committed and attempted to mediate between the two parties.

12/30/16              Fri           1312       Civil Paper Services All – Summons served in a criminal case.

12/30/16              Fri           1901       Animal – Caller reported a dead fox. The fox’s carcass was disposed of in an appropriate manner.

12/31/16              Sat          0055       Suspicious Person/Activity – Officers were advised of a vehicle parked in an unusual manner at the elementary school. The vehicle was found to be disabled.

12/31/16              Sat          0125       Assault – Officers responded to a report of an assault at a local drinking establishment. Investigation revealed that three individuals assaulted the bouncer at the bar. Dane Hulbert, 30 yoa, charged with Vehicle Theft I and Hindering Prosecution. Nicholas Jordan, 28 yoa, charged with Assult 3. Chad Tyndall 32 yoa, charged with Assault 3 and Assault 4.

12/31/16              Sat          0445       Trespass – Individuals involved in an assault were issued a trespass advisement from the bar.

12/31/16              Sat          1047       Public Safety – High Wind Advisory.

12/31/16              Sat          1153       Environmental – Caller reported a wire coming from the Tsunami Siren Tower. The wire was secured.

12/31/16              Sat          1614       Assistance Rendered – Officers assisted in the removal a guest who had overstayed their welcome.

12/31/16              Sat          1804       Warrant Arrest - Joe Gomez, 33 yoa, arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear for remand.
