The City Clerk’s Department is accepting applications for the position of: Deputy City Clerk. Applications will be accepted until filled.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under direct supervision of the City Clerk, this position provides a full range of administrative support to the City Clerk and assumes City Clerk responsibilities in absence of the City Clerk; performs specialized duties in support of department responsibilities.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: Assists in supervision of overall City Clerk’s Department operations, including preparation of council packets, agendas and minutes; attends council meetings; assists in conducting elections. Responds to inquiries from property owners, developers, business owners and others regarding sales and property taxes. Assists the City Clerk by reviewing and editing reports; preparing financial, statistical, or written reports; and performing special projects. Prepares correspondence, legal notices, proclamations, and other documents. Maintains tax records and assists with administration of City records retention program and fulfillment of public information requests. Assists with the administration of business licenses, taxi permits, and sales taxes. Assists in preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and audit schedules.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, elected officials, the media, and the public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to read, interpret, and apply complex ordinances, rules, and regulations. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and perform work assignments with a minimum of supervision. Ability to understand and follow complex instructions, manage multiple tasks, and work effectively under stress and with interruptions and changes in work priority. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in interpersonal dealings that are difficult, highly sensitive, and confidential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An Associates degree or substantial college-level coursework in business, accounting, public administration, or a related field or an equivalent level of training and experience. Four years of progressively responsible management and administrative experience. Certified Municipal Clerk designation preferred.

Salary: $56,967.77-$71,209.72 DOE Regular Full -Time Position
