The Department of Finance is accepting applications for the position of: COMPUTER SPECIALIST. Position is open until filled.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Employees in this entry level position act as support for the City's data processing and computer hardware and software programs.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: Assist in setting up computer hardware. Install computer software. Assist users in solving computer software and hardware problems. Perform and verify accuracy of computer data entry tasks. Repair computer hardware. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of virtual environments, LAN, application support and knowledge of computer repair and software installation. Ability to organize and analyze work flow and problems. Ability to make decisions and take prompt, effective action. Must possess experience with Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to solve a variety of computer questions/problems.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of computer/data processing experience. Other combinations of education and experience which could provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed will be evaluated on an individual basis. Certification in VCP5-DT MCP and A+ preferred.
LICENSES AND REQUIREMENTS: Must have a VCA-WM (VMware Certified Associate-Workforce Mobility) Certificate. A valid Alaska Driver’s License is required or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. As a condition of employment this position will be required to successfully complete a drug test prior to beginning work.
