DEATH INVESTIGATION - SUSPECTED OVERDOSE
Unalaska, Alaska October 22nd, 2019 1300 hrs.
Unalaska, AK - On October 16th 2019, Officers from the Unalaska Department of Public Safety responded to assist EMS after an unresponsive and non-breathing person was discovered in a room at the Grand Aleutian Hotel. Evidence at the scene supported suspicions that the individual likely suffered a medical condition after injecting a controlled substance.
EMS fully invested themselves in providing life saving measures, however, in the end, were unsuccessful and the patient was pronounced dead on the scene. The deceased was identifies as 26 year old, Per Michael Hyhammer, a fisherman from Bothell, WA. Nyhammer's remains were sent to the State of Alaska Medical Examiner's office for autopsy, and the investigation into his death remains an ongoing matter.
Nyhammer's next of kin have been notified.
